Henri Sackley is the founder and principal of Altitude SMSF Accounting, a specialist SMSF accounting practice based on the Gold Coast, Queensland. He is a Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ, Member No. 3003000), an SMSF Specialist Adviser (SMSF Association, Individual No. 59627), and a registered Tax Agent. Altitude SMSF Accounting works exclusively with self-managed super fund trustees across Australia, providing SMSF establishment, annual accounting, compliance, and administration services.
My accounting career began with SMSFs, and they have been my focus and passion ever since. I graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and found myself drawn to the depth and complexity of self-managed super funds. The more I learnt, the more I wanted to stay in it.
My career began in January 2017, at the start of a significant period of reform in superannuation. Over the years that followed, I worked through some of the most complex legislative changes the sector had seen: the 2017 reforms introducing Transfer Balance Account Reporting and Total Superannuation Balance caps, updates to contribution rules and caps in 2018 and 2019, and the relief measures introduced during 2020 and 2021. Each wave of change brought new complexity and, with it, new ways to genuinely support the people I worked with.
What I came to value most was the relationship side of this work. Every trustee had a different story: the business owner looking to hold commercial property, the couple planning for early retirement, the retiree with a rich history of investing. No two funds were the same. Getting to know the people behind each fund, their goals, their circumstances, and their plans for retirement, is the part of this work I am most passionate about.
